Isabelle Cohen
I am an Assistant Professor at the Evans School of Public Policy & Governance at the University of Washington, focusing on development and public economics. I hold a PhD in Economics from UC Berkeley (2021), and a Master's in Public Policy (2012) and a Bachelor's in International Relations (2011), both from the College of William & Mary.
My work focuses on institutional capacity constraints in developing countries, including work on taxation under low enforcement capacity, digital identification, and gender norms (particularly child marriage). Much of my research uses large-scale randomized control trials, with projects ongoing or in-development in countries including Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Uganda.
I am grateful for current and past financial support from CEGA, the IGC, J-PAL, USAID, NIH, and FID, among others.
